

KIDS CLASSES

USFA MEMBERSHIP
All participants who practice at Silverlake Fencing (club members, beginner class students, or guest fencers) are required to be members of the United States Fencing Association.
The USFA membership is required for insurance purposes.
** You are allowed 90 days upon signing the below to decide if fencing is for you. Afterward, a $29 Access Membership or other USFA membership required

Note: This allows a new fencer to try fencing at a USA Fencing Member Club for 3 months with full insurance coverage through the USA Fencing policy. Fencers MUST join USA Fencing after the 3-month trial membership has expired, if they wish to continue fencing.

WHAT TO EXPECT​​
For students who are beginners and will start with the 101 basics.
This class introduces footwork, conditioning, basic techniques, and skills, bouting tactics, etiquette, and sportsmanship. Students will also dive into point practice and blade drills. We provide all the necessary equipment.

WHAT TO BRING​​
We provide all the necessary equipment: Mask, Glove, Jacket, and Foil.
Be sure however to have your child wear athletic attire when attending: Sweatpants, shorts or tights. Athletic shoes or sneakers.

WHAT TO EXPECT​​
​
Kids Competitive Training class is for foil students ages 14-18 who wish to focus on competing in foil fencing.
It is for students who have a good understanding of basic movements, and are ready for a higher level of footwork, technical skills, and bouting tactics. Students of any level may join the competitive class, but prior fencing experience and/or a consultation with the instructor is recommended. Classes include physical training drills, fencing technique, and bouting, as well as lessons in competitive strategy and etiquette.
